For those unfamiliar with her story, Joy Mangano invented the Miracle Mop that turned her in to a multimillionaire.  Russell assembles a talented cast to portray children filled with grotesques that the heroine must handle on her behalf rocky way to self-actualization.  Lawrence's Joy can be a woman that has had to make sacrifices to be with her ambitions to help you support a slew of codependent family.  Her mother Terry (Viriginia Madsen), wastes her days away during intercourse watching soap operas.  Joy's crooner ex-husband Tony (Edgar Ramirez) lives in her basement until his singing career will be taking off.  Mimi (Dianne Ladd) is her angelic grandmother who believes that Joy's special talents will be fulfilled some day.  She also adds important narration that illustrates how her granddaughter was always creating interesting ideas.  Joy must deal with a jealous half-sister Peggy (Elizabeth Rohm) along with a ne'er-do-well father Rudy (Robert De Niro) who has just been dropped off at Joy's doorstep by another annoyed ex. 

The spirit of celebrating festivals and family celebration is rare case. That bonding of togetherness is lacking. Generally, in all relations, whether it's of parent and child, lovers or partners the attachment is lacking. It is due to far distance jobs. People somewhat are attracted towards money. As it is the Satan ruling the entire world. At such place, imparting lovely gift or greeting can cause magic. It can bring joy and happy tears in the eyes of spouse and children. It can add that magic which can be spellbound but cannot be expressed in words. It is the gesture of love, which can be express only at the bottom of heart.    

Joy has not been really shown like a single mother.   Richard Linklater's film, Boyhood, was a genuine depiction in what it is similar to to become single mother. Joy Mangano was  supposed to be a divorced single mother with children. The film showed her allowing a deadbeat ex-husband to live in her basement. He didn't pay any bills or just work at a job. He would have been a glorified babysitter. The movie Erin Brockovich worked since it showed the world that it isn't an easy task for a single woman to execute. The man or spouse is often not living under the same roof of the spouse. Especially if he is not leading to family members.

The main character inside story is Jing-mei Woo. She has also adopted an American name, June, which illustrates her assimilation to American culture. Jing-mei echos the way of considering the mothers from the Joy Luck Club as Tan illustrates their difficulty in finding their identities between their old and new countries. Jin-mei's narratives are important bridging the gap between your generations of storytellers, as well as the culture and heritage in America and China.
